"The survey involving 2,235 respondents showed that the government improved its image in 2017 than in 2016," Program Manager of Campaign Division of ICW Siti Julian Tari, said here on Thursday.
Siti said 20 percent of the 2,235 respondents said "very satisfied," with the government action against corruption, and 49 percent said the government was "serious" in the effort to stamp out corruption from the country, 21 percent said "not serious", 3 percent "very much not serious and 7 percent said "not knowing."
In 2016, only 10 percent of 2,000 respondents said "very serious" and 52 percent said "serious" with 28 percent saying "not serious" and 3 percent saying very much not serious."
However, the peoples awareness in taking part in the fight against corruption was still relatively low, Siti said.
According to the 2,235 respondents the biggest role in the fight against corruption is played by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), with the President played the second most important role.
KPK accounted for 63 percent and the president for 37 percent of the fight against corruption, Siti said, quoting the survey.
Around 15 percent of the respondent also said that the people also played a role in the fight against corruption and 28 percent said police contributed to the fight.
The survey, which involved respondents from 177 regencies and cities in Indonesia, was held from April to June 2017.(*)
