The dialog between the vice president and the 35-member Afghan delegation, led by the HPC chief Mohammad Karim Khalili, started at 04.30 p.m. local time.
Based on information, the officials discussed ways to put an end to the conflict between the Afghan government and the Taliban militant group.
While in Indonesia, Khalili also met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Tuesday. During the meeting, Khalili called on Indonesia to assist Afghanistan in curbing the conflict, as part of the efforts to create peace in the country.
Jokowi is convinced that Indonesia has adequate capacity to mediate in the conflict in Afghanistan.
"Indonesia has the capacity to contribute to peace efforts in Afghanistan," Jokowi remarked, after hosting the Afghan delegation at the Grand Garden Restaurant of the Bogor Botanical Garden complex, on Tuesday.
According to Jokowi, Indonesia has become a role model for the world, as its people practice a tolerant and moderate form of Islam.
Hence, Indonesia is ready to help Afghanistan resolve the conflict to create peace in the region, Jokowi revealed.
