We have a budget of just Rp9 billion."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) will continue to sell the broadcasting rights for a test event prior to the opening of the 18th Asian Games 2018.
A series of test events will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex from Feb 10 to 24, 2018.
"The trial tournament has nine sports events, namely weightlifting, athletics, basketball, volleyball, archery, martial arts, football, taekwondo, and boxing. However, the committee offers four sports events to the prospective holder of the Asian Games broadcasting rights," broadcasting director of the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), Linda Wahyudi, stated here on Wednesday.
The four sports events are football, volleyball, basketball, and martial arts.
The tournament originally had 10 sports events, namely weightlifting, athletics, basketball, volleyball, badminton, archery, martial arts, football, taekwondo, and boxing.
However, at the end of October 2017, the badminton association withdrew from the trial tournament and instead opted to hold the Indonesia Master Games in January 2018 in preparation for the Asian Games.
Wahyudi pointed out that the INASGOC continued to offer the broadcasting rights to several television stations, especially in Indonesia, one of them being the Emtek Group.
"We have a budget of just Rp9 billion," Wahyudi stated.
National athletes are being prepared to compete in the trial tournament.
"Meanwhile, football matches will be held in three places, namely Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong Depok; Patriot Stadium, Bekasi; and Wibawamukti Stadium, Cikarang," Wahyudi noted.
Deputy Government of Jakarta, Sandiaga Uno, earlier remarked that the Jakarta administration is applying a zero waste management system in preparations for the Asian Games 2018.
Uno presented several modern cleaning equipment, which have been decorated with the logo of Asian Games, to the environmental affairs office in East Jakarta, here, on Thursday (Dec 21).
"Today, we hand over several assets officially. This is part of our preparations for the implementation of the Asian Games and our preparation for zero waste management," he explained.
The Jakarta provincial administration will provide the equipment to five municipalities, namely Central, South, North, West and East Jakarta, and Seribu Island District.
Jakarta produces some seven thousand tons of wastes daily. Waste management is a huge responsibility of the capital city, according to him.
He urged the Jakartans to change their mindset regarding waste disposal and treatment and move toward zero waste management.
Jakarta and the South Sumatran provincial capital of Palembang will co-host the 18th Asian Games from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.
