"ASEAN is very important for Vietnam and Indonesia and we see the great role of Indonesia in strengthening ASEAN cooperation," Hong Anh Tuan said while paying a courtesy call on Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu at the latter`s office here on Thursday.
The Vietnamese ambassador visited Ryamizard Ryacudu to say farewell as his term of office as the Vietnamese ambassador to Indonesia will end soon.
Hong Anh Tuan said he was pleased to see defense cooperation between the two countries continue to increase and develop rapidly.
The Vietnamese envoy, who has been assigned in Indonesia for more than two years said defense cooperation between the two countries are getting stronger and closer as reflected by mutual visits by the two countries` defense ministers.
The defense ministers of the two countries have several times met both at bilateral forums and multilateral forums within the framework of ASEAN forum and other meetings, he said.
In response, Ryamizard Ryacudu expressed gratitude to Hong Anh Tuan for performing his duties properly particularly in encouraging close defense cooperation between the two countries.
