Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Thirty-seven innovation projects of Indonesian school and university students, who joined the Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA), have successfully made it to the top four at the 2018 Intellectual Property Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEX) competition in Bangkok, Thailand.

INNOPA`s Director of International Partnership, Megaria Agustina, stated here on Thursday that INNOPA has delivered 37 innovation projects this year.

"This is a remarkable achievement for Indonesia and shows that Indonesia is able to compete and participate in the world innovation event," she noted.

At the five-day event, Indonesian participants won 15 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals, as well as various special awards.

Agustina remarked that INNOPA is a private association that selects Indonesian students to compete in international competitions. She hoped that the innovations made by Indonesian students would not only be confined to IPITEX but would also be developed and produced en masse to be useful for people.

"Surely, this requires investors, who can help the students produce their innovations that can be marketed," she revealed.

The IPITEX 2018 competition is held annually by the National Research Council of Thailand from Feb 2to 6. The date has been designated as Thailand Inventors Day.

The IPITEX 2018 competition was participated by more than 30 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, India, Iran, Egypt, UAE, Poland, Romania, China, Macau, Hong Kong, England, Lebanon, and Russia.

Over one thousand innovations from various categories, such as engineering, agriculture, chemistry, biology, machinery, design, and medicine, were exhibited and competed at the event.
