... the team found 41 bags containing methamphetamine on a pile of rice sacks...Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Navy has secured a Singapore-flagged vessel MV Sunrise Glory that was carrying about one ton of methamphetamine in the Philips Strait adjacent to the waters of Batam, Riau Islands.
Based on a press statement received from the Indonesian Navy's Information Office in Batam on Saturday, the team found 41 bags containing methamphetamine on a pile of rice sacks.
The office revealed that on Wednesday, at around 2 pm local time, an Indonesian warship KRI Siguror had spotted the MV Sunrise Glory ship passing outside the Traffic Separation Scheme and entering the Indonesian waters.
Documents on board were found to be fake during examination. The ship was brought to the Batu Ampar Dock of Batam.
On Thursday, at around 4 pm local time, the Indonesian warship handed over the Singapore-flagged vessel to the Main Naval Base in Batam.
On Friday at around 3 pm local time, the MV Sunrise Glory vessel was moved from the Batu Ampar Dock to the Batam Naval Base.
The crew members of MV Sunrise Glory were interrogated by the Western Fleet Quick Response Team of the Main Naval Base IV/Batam Naval Base, Central National Narcotics Agency, Central Customs, and Batam Customs.
At 6 pm local time, the team managed to find evidence in the form of methamphetamine.
