Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The state-owned postal service company PT Pos Indonesia is playing its role in supporting the 2018 Asian Games by reflecting the event through a special stamp.

Head of Region 4 Jakarta PT Pos Indonesia Pupung Purnama said in an official statement received in Jakarta, Friday, that it is a form of support in achieving the success of the 2018 Asian Games that will be held in Jakarta and Palembang.

"As a state-owned enterprise, we also support the 2018 Asian Games by promoting it through special series stamps themed Asian Games 2018 Energy of Asia," he said.

He further stated that there are 11 sports that are printed in the 2018 edition of Asian Games stamps namely swimming, soccer, badminton, swimming, basketball, wushu, judo, equestrian, athletic, martial arts and volleyball.

"Minisheet, souvenir sheet and first day cover can be obtained at every major post office throughout Indonesia, while special edition packaging can only be obtained in Jakarta and Palembang," he added.

Through out the entire 18 Asian Games series, PT Pos Indonesia has published five series of stamps.

The first edition was for the 1951 Asian Games in India, and then in 1962 in Indonesia, 1994 in Japan and 1998 in Thailand, and this year it is back in Indonesia.

The special edition stamps, he continued, are being sought after by the public, including the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, so much so that he was buying the special edition Asian Games 2018 Jakarta-Palembang stamps immediately.

"Stamps can be a message of nationality that the 2018 Asian Games is an event owned by all Indonesian people, I hope that with this stamp we can campaign that the Asian Games is an Indonesian event not only Jakarta and Palembang," he said.

Meanwhile, preparations to face the Asian Games 2018 this coming August continued to be carried out. In fact, the INASGOC as the organizer has held testing trials, in which there were eight sports being competed.

The goal of the test tournament itself is to test Indonesia`s readiness as host of the event, both in infrastructure, human resources and readiness in holding the biggest championship in Asia.
