Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The West Java police have arrested a suspected producer of bootleg liquor that led to the deaths of dozens of people in Cicalengka Sub-district of Bandung, West Java.

Syamsudin Simbolon, the suspect, was arrested in Musi Banyuasin District of South Sumatra on Wednesday.

"It is true that he was arrested in Musi Banyuasin at around 5 a.m. local time," West Java Police`s Director for Criminal Investigation Senior Commissioner Umar Surya Fana noted when contacted here on Wednesday.

The suspect, who produced the bootleg liquor brand "Minola," had changed locations several times since being named a suspect and being on the wanted list of the police.

The police had searched three locations in South Sumatra before arresting Simbolon in Musi Banyuasin, Fana remarked.

"We have arrested him from the fourth location. There was no resistance during the arrest," he added.

Simbolon is the owner of an elite house situated on the Bandung-Garut main street in Cicalengka Wetan Village of Bandung District.

Simbolon made the liquor that was stored in an underground room, hidden under a gazebo in the backyard. Access to the underground room was only possible after moving the gazebo first.

The room was used to produce the bootleg liquor Minola that had claimed the lives of 42 people in Cicalengka.
