"The industrial revolution 4.0 will have an impact on the (industrial) change almost 3 thousand times as great as the first industrial revolution. This shows how fast the change is," the president stated at a function to break the fast at the office of the Golkar Party Regional Executive Board in Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The Industry Ministry has taken steps to anticipate the industrial revolution 4.0. Additionally, the government also has launched Making Indonesia 4.0 movement to anticipate it, he noted.
The president added that a lot of changes had been made when he visited Silicon Valley in the United States some time ago.
"Frankly speaking, we were shocked to see how the world has changed so fast," he remarked.
If the rapid changes are not anticipated, and the younger generations cannot adapt to the changes, this will be very dangerous, he explained.
"But I see that the younger generations can quickly adjust to the changes, and artificial intelligence has been much used now. For instance, the younger generations can directly catch the development of e-money in Indonesia, and many of them have used it to write a thesis," he elaborated.
He reminded the nation that changes have affected all countries. "Sometimes the government`s policy is late. It is not just our country but other countries as well that find it hard to face the industrial revolution 4.0," he pointed out.
