Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Flights from the International Airport of Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Bali, to other places in the country totaled 3,704 units in April 2018, up 184 flights or 5.23 percent than 3,520 flights in the previous month.

"The thousands of departures took away 468,663 passengers up 9.79 percent from 426,854 in the previous month," head of the Bali`s office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Adi Nugroho said here on Wednesday.

The flights in April, 2018 also carried 4.9 million tons of baggage and cargoes or 12.25 percent larger than 4.3 million tons in March .

Jakarta`s Soekarno Hatta International Airport was the main destinations of the flights accounting for 1,338 flights with 207,319 passengers , followed by Surabaya 450 flights with 66,995 passengers and Lombok Praya 240 flights with 24,293 passengers, Yogyakarta 207 flights with 28,355 passengers , Makassar 193 flights with 26,953 passengers and Labuan Bajo 192 flights with 11,989 passengers.

There are also flights to Bandung, Jakarta`s Halim Perdana Kusuma , Tambolaka, etc.

Year-on-year, the number of departures from Ngurah Rai in April were 12.31 percent larger.

Adi Nugroho, the number of outgoing passengers in April , 2018 grew 9.79 percent from the previous month to 468,663 .

Increase was recorded in the number of passengers to all ten main destinations, Adi Nugroho said.

Bali is the country`s largest tourist resort island always crowded with holidaymakers. (AS)
