Indonesia had expressed its support during the 42nd forum of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Manama, Bahrain, from June 24 to July 4, the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh said in a press statement released on Monday.
Located in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia, Oasis Al-Ahsa is a natural site which has existed since many centuries Before Christ (BC).
Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in the capacity as the president of the Saudi Tourism and Heritage Board, expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Agus Maftuh Abegebriel, for the support.
Indonesia, along with 20 other member states of the Unesco World Heritage Committee, agreed to the inclusion of Oasis Al-Ahsa in UNESCO`s World Heritage List.
Madain Saleh is Saudi Arabia`s first historical heritage recognized by UNESCO as the world heritage site in 2008.
The other Saudi historical heritages included in the UNESCO`s World Heritage List are At-Turaif district in Dir`iyah in 2010, Historic Jeddah - Gate to Mecca/Baabul Makkah in 2014, and Rock Art ancient painting in Ha`il in 2015.
