"I have the name. It will only be made known to the public later," he stated after closing the national meeting of Activists 98 at JI-Expo Kemayoran.
He noted that he would announce it at the right time later. "Just wait. It is just several days away. Just be patient," he remarked.
The General Election Commission has set the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the election, scheduled in April next year, from August 4 to 10. Jokowi has also decided to seek reelection.
When asked to comment on Anies Baswedan`s nomination, Jokowi stated the more the better.
"I think the more candidates there are, the better there will be. No matter who will be, I think, it will be very good," he added.
Baswedan was a former member of Jokowi`s cabinet. He was discharged as minister of education but he then ran for Jakarta governorship and won the post.
The ruling Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) has formally named Jokwoi as its candidate to run for president again for the next period from 2019 to 2024 in the election next year.
Several other political parties, on the other hand, have also expressed support to Jokowi to seek reelection.
His strong candidate so far has been Prabowo Subianto, whom he defeated in the last election.
Subianto, who is a former army general and also the former son-in-law of former president Suharto, has already expressed readiness to be nominated as a presidential candidate.
His Gerindra party, however, has not yet formed a coalition with other parties, making it difficult to name him as a candidate to meet the requirement.
