Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), along with the National Wealth and Auction Services Office (KPKNL) in Jakarta, will auction off 23 items seized by the Commission, in Jakarta on Wednesday (July 25).

"There are 23 items that will be auctioned, including a house, land, car, cellphone, kiswah cloth to agate stones, starting from 58 thousand rupiahs (around 4 US dollars) to 14 billion rupiahs (around 976,000 US dollars)," said KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah in Jakarta, Thursday.

He further stated that the auction for the seized items is part of the process to return the money, that have been wrongfully relished by those who have committed corruption, back to the people through a state monetary mechanism.

"So we would like to invite everyone to join the auction. All the 23 items can be seen through the Commission`s website and the online page of the Ministry of Finance`s Directorate General of State Wealth," he said.

One of the items, the kiswah cloth, the cloth that covers the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is part of the series of items seized in the corruption case of former Minister of Religious Affairs Suryadharma Ali.

It will go on the auction with 22.5 million rupiahs as the starting price.

He also explained that the Judicial Review, proposed by Suryadharma Ali, that is taking place at the moment would not halt the auction process as it has previously been decided with a strong law basis.
