We have capable human resources for the Asian Games` coverage. Moreover, we are the official media partner of INASGOC for text and photo news," Antara`s Editor-in-Chief Akhmad Munir stated here on Thursday.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s state-owned news agency Antara has launched a microsite for the Asian Games 2018 to meet the public`s needs to access the latest and credible news prior to and during the world`s second-largest sporting event.

"We have capable human resources for the Asian Games` coverage. Moreover, we are the official media partner of INASGOC for text and photo news," Antara`s Editor-in-Chief Akhmad Munir stated here on Thursday.

As an official media partner of the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), Antara has some privileges to access series of events during the Asian Games other than merely relying on media pools.

Munir said that Antara has assigned hundreds of journalists, including text, photo, and video journalists, to cover the 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, from August 18 to September 2. It is the first time that the two cities are co-hosting the Games, making it a more challenging task for the organizers.

Hence, Munir claimed that Antara will be capable of publishing stories covering various angles of the Asian Games, including its human interest, that other media outlets might have no resources to cover.

Antara News Agency has experience in covering large-scale sports events, ranging from Indonesia`s National Sports Week or PON, and the SEA Games to the Olympic Games.

Antara`s microsite for the Asian Games is embedded with its official website antaranews.com and can be directly accessed on http://asiangames.antaranews.com.

Munir added that the microsite is also created to assist INASGOC in disseminating information of Indonesia`s performance in hosting the 18th Asian Games.

Apart from news on current sports, Antara`s Asian Games microsite will also provide the match result of each game, daily activities of athletes and officials, match analysis, athlete`s profile, and data on the Asian Games` history.

A total of 16,920 athletes and officials from 45 Asian countries have been registered for the Games. Overall, more than 11 thousand athletes will vie for medals in 40 sports and 67 disciplines.
