Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A total of four thousand traffic police personnel will strengthen the traffic security personnel during the implementation of Asian Games 2018, which will be held in Jakarta.

"We will add four thousand personnel, who will be placed in four regions (in Jakarta) where the Asian Games will be held," the National traffic police chief, Insp. Gen. Royke Lumowa said here on Monday.

According to Lumowa, with regard to heavy traffic flow in Jakarta, his side has met the target of transporting the contingents and officials of the Asian Games from their lodging to venues, or vice versa, within 35 minutes.

In the meantime, last Friday, the Jakarta Police carried out a rehearsal to ensure the reliability of safety measures, especially those geared towards terrorism and bomb threats, for the Asian Games 2018.

Head of the Jakarta Metro Police Department`s Public Relations Division, Police Chief Commissioner Argo Yuwono, stated in Jakarta on Friday that the police will work together with military forces to secure the Asian Games venues.

Argo also revealed that there will be more pre-operation simulations leading up to the games.

Earlier, Deputy Police Chief Com. Gen. Syafruddin remarked that the state police have carried out high-level security preparations to ensure the successful implementation of the Asian Games this year.

A joint force of 60 thousand police and military personnel have been tasked with maintaining security ahead of and during the events, according to Syafruddin, who is also chairman of the Indonesian Asian Games contingent.
