Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Palestinian U-23 national team has promised to play better in its next game against Laos on Sunday (Aug 12), following its 0-0 draw score against Taiwan earlier.

The 0-0 draw score against Taiwan in the men`s soccer match in group A of the 18th Asian Games, which was held at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi on Friday, made the Palestinian team dissatisfied.

Palestinian has a greater opportunity to defeat Laos after Laos, which was coached by Mike Wong, suffered a loss of 1-3 from Hong Kong.

If the Palestinian U-23 team would again score a draw with Laos, it can be difficult for this squad to qualify for the group phase.

Palestinian U-23 national team coach Ayman Sandouqa asked his players to focus on the next match against Laos on Sunday (Aug 12) at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, starting at 04:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard time (WIB).

They are required to win three points in the match in order to maintain the chance of qualifying for the group phase.

"We focus on facing Laos. We do not want to break our concentration with other matches, including our third match against Indonesia," Sandouqa stated.

The Palestinian U-23 national team match against Taiwan U-23 national team ended in a 0-0 draw, in continuation of the 18th Asian Games 2018 men`s soccer group match on Friday.

Palestine and Taiwan temporarily are in second place in Group A. Group A was still dominated by Hong Kong U-23 national team after defeating Laos 3- 1 in its inaugural match.

Jakarta and the South Sumatran Provincial capital of Palembang will host the biggest Asian sporting events from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018.

The games will be attended by 45 countries, and will feature 462 events in 40 sports, of which 32 are Olympic sports and eight are non-Olympic events.
