Under the regulation, the ministry will be reorganized and the government will establish a special team to roll out the plan for the 4th Industrial Revolution, led by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, he said.
"The president has prepared a presidential regulation for the reorganization of the industry ministry. The ministry will thus be prepared to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in accordance with its priority," Airlangga remarked at the parliament complex here on Thursday.
In addition to the special team, he added, the government has established industrial clusters based on the development of production centers, such as those in Sei Mangkei in North Sumatra, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, and Bintuni in Papua.
The development of industrial cluster projects is expected to run from 2022 to 2023.
"We encourage (the development of) infrastructure, as well as ministerial regulations, including those that cut imports and focus on the use of local products and services," he noted.
President Joko Widodo delivered his presidential speech at the annual People`s Consultative Assembly meeting in Jakarta, Thursday.
Later in the day, the president will deliver his speech on the state budget draft for 2019 at the opening of the House of Representatives` 2018-2019 plenary session.
