The downpour since Saturday evening until Sunday morning has quickly caused spillovers from Kaeng Krachan dam in Phetchaburi province and forced dozens of tourist resorts nearby to be closed, said an official of the dam, about 180 km southwest of Bangkok.
Not only those resorts but the road linking them with the provincial capital has been severely flooded, while many villages in the neighborhood of the dam have been affected by excessive water from the dam.
Kaeng Krachan dam is containing some 750 million cubic meters of water, with its maximum capacity of 710 million cubic meters, according to the official, Xinhua reported.
Thailand was forecast to be under the influence of tropical rainstorms throughout this month, such as Typhoon Bebinca which has hit its northern region.
