Majalengka, W Java (ANTARA News) - At the final slalom canoe championship in the dam "Bendungan Rentang", Majalengka, West Java, on Wednesday, (Aug 22), Japanese canoe men`s single athlete Takuya Haneda won the gold medal.

Haneda was the fastest, with a record of 90.06 seconds and zero penalties in the final match, which saw the participation of athletes from eight countries.

It was the second gold medal for Haneda in the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta and Palembang after winning the gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

Meanwhile, Chinese athlete Fangjia Chen won the silver medal with a record of 90.58 and zero penalties, suffering a narrow loss of 0.52 seconds to Japan.

In the meantime, Kazakh athlete Alexandr Kulikov won the bronze medal with a record of 98.49 seconds and zero penalties.

The awarding of the medals was carried out by the President of the Asian Canoe Confederation (ACC), Shoken Narita.
