Palembang, S Sumatra, (ANTARA News) - The rowing team from India clinched a gold medal in the men`s quadruple sculls (M4X) event on Friday.

Sawarn Singh, Bhokanal, Om Prakash, and Singh B won the gold medal after beating the host team and the team from Thailand in 6:17.13 minutes.

With this result, the Indonesian team comprising Kusmana, Rudiana, Sulpianto, and Memo M had to be content with a silver medal after they finished the race in 6:20.58 minutes.

Thailand`s team constituting Amunamang, Phromphoem M, Nampratueng P, and Saensuk J was awarded a bronze medal after they completed the race in 6:22.41 minutes.

On the other hand, the Japanese team won a gold medal in the lightweight men`s double sculls event, overpowering Korea and India, recording their best time of 7:01.70 minutes.

During the event, the Indonesian team of Mardiana R and Yanto M finished fourth, clocking 7:07.20 minutes.

The silver medal in the event went to Kim B and Lee M from Korea, who finished the race in 7:03.22 minutes, while the bronze medal was awarded to Kumar R and Bhagwan Singh from India after completing the race in 7:04.61 minutes.
