Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chinese sprinter Bingtian Su emerged as the fastest man in Asia after he finished first in the men`s 100 meter sprint at the Asian Games 2018 here on Sunday.

Bingtian clocked in at 9.92 seconds to earn the gold medal as well as to break the previous Asian Games record of 9.93 seconds set by Femi Ogunode of Qatar at the Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, South Korea.

The silver medal went to Tosin Ogunode of Qatar who finished the 100-meter sprint in 10 seconds, while Ryoto Yamagata of Japan won the bronze medal with a time of 10 seconds.

Indonesian sprinter Lalu Muhammad Zohri, who won a gold medal in the men`s 100-meter sprint in the U-20 World Athletic Championship in Finland on July 11, 2018, finished seventh with a time of 10.20 seconds. The time record is better than his previous time record of 10.24 seconds in the men`s 100 meter race semifinals.
