"I took the time to visit the National Monument, as it is the icon of Indonesia`s capital city," Korean athlete Young Lee stated in Jakarta, Monday.
As her competitions are over, Lee said she spent the rest of the time she had in Jakarta to visit several tourism spots, including the Monument, before heading back to her home country.
"I am spending the spare time I have after the competitions by visiting several destinations in Jakarta. This is a good opportunity for me and to have a bit of a holiday," she added.
It is Lee`s first time in Indonesia`s capital city, and she admitted that it is rather impressive.
"I am so glad that I could come and visit. All this time, I have only been seeing images in the media, and now I have the opportunity to see it in person," she remarked.
A similar statement was made by Filipino athlete Samantha Kyle, as it is also her first time in Indonesia.
"I would like to enjoy the tourism spots here, including the Monument. We would also like to visit the old town (Kota Tua) and the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah," she remarked.
Based on Antara`s observation, several athletes and chaperones, participating in the 2018 Asian Games, took time off to visit some of the renowned tourism spots in Jakarta.
While exploring the premises and enjoying the sights, they were also seen taking "selfies" that they can look back on once they return to their home countries.
