Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) will be soon finishing a study on the economic impact of the 2018 Asian Games.

"(The games) just finished. We need two weeks to one month to deliver the final results (of the study)," Bappenas` head Bambang Brodjonegoro told reporters in Jakarta on Monday.

The 18th Asian Games which was held in Jakarta and Palembang on August 18 to September 2 has had both direct and indirect impacts which all contributed to economic growth.

The additional economic activities in the Asian Games could be directly seen from government investments to improve the infrastructure of sports facilities, operational preparations since 2015 and the expenditure of tourists attending the event.

While the indirect impact of organizing the biggest sports event in Asia is the added value that can create jobs, strengthen economic growth and increase people`s income.

The total direct impact of the Asian Games on the economy of DKI Jakarta reached Rp22 trillion, consisting of construction investment of Rp13.7 trillion, operational activities of Rp5.8 trillion and visitor expenditure of Rp2.6 trillion.

The economic output of Jakarta in the 2015-2019 period is estimated to increase up to Rp40.6 trillion originating from construction of facilities and infrastructure preparation activities of Rp18.5 trillion, operational activities of Rp20.9 trillion and visitors` activities of Rp1.2 trillion.

DKI Jakarta was estimated to receive 408,400 visitors during the Asian Games, consisting of 154,069 foreign tourists and 254,332 domestic tourists.

The recreation and entertainment sector in the Indonesia`s capital is expected to grow by 26.1 percent while the broadcasting sector by 2.81 percent, hotels 2.17 percent, utilities 0.57 percent, construction 0.51 percent, other services 0 , 47 percent, transportation 0.44 percent and food and beverages 0.40 percent.

Meanwhile, the total direct impact on the economy of South Sumatra reaches Rp18.5 trillion, consisting of construction investment of Rp. 15.4 trillion, operational activities of Rp2.1 trillion and visitors` expenditure of Rp968 billion.

The economic output of South Sumatra in the 2015-2019 period is estimated to increase to Rp11.1 trillion originating from construction of facilities and infrastructure preparation of Rp9 trillion, implementation of Rp1.6 trillion and visitors` activities of Rp439 billion.

Palembang was also visited by 175,029 people during the Games, consisting of 66,029 foreign tourists and 108,999 domestic tourists.

The recreation and entertainment sector in Palembang is expected to grow by 34.92 percent, followed by the broadcasting sector at 5.36 percent, hotels 7.57 percent, utilities 0.74 percent, construction 1.83 percent, other services 0.83 percent, transportation 5.91 percent and food and beverages 1.05 percent. *** 3 ***
