Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia expressed readiness during a meeting between Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister A. M. Fachir and Hong Kong Secretary for Labor and Welfare Law Chi-Kong to send caregivers for the elderly to Hong Kong.

Fachir noted in a statement here on Tuesday that Indonesia is ready to work closely with the Hong Kong administration to send caregivers to meet the demand in the region.

Fachir held a meeting with Chi-Kong on Monday in Hong Kong.

Chi-Kong remarked in response to the statement that the administration will study the offer, while also hinting at a possibility of opening job opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers already working in Hong Kong.

"The Hong Kong Government will provide free training for Indonesian workers in Hong Kong, and after they receive the certificates, they can work in nursing homes in Hong Kong," he remarked.

Fachir hailed the idea since having such expertise will increase the workers` salaries.

According to Fachir, Hong Kong has provided adequate facilities and protection for migrant workers due to which it has become a popular destination for Indonesian migrant workers.

However, the deputy minister has also expressed concern over the welfare of Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong.

Chi-Kong has planned to pay a visit to Indonesia to meet his counterpart in the country, including the National Agency for the Protection and Placement of Migrant Workers, to discuss issues related to the protection of Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong.
