Chairman of Innovation Business Association (Innobiz), Myung Ki Sung, who is also an initiator of the event, said that more than 40 Indonesian SMEs with eco-innovation base are exploring potential cooperation in business and technology with dozens of South Korean-based companies at the 1st Indonesia-Korea SMEs Technology Matching Conference 2018 held here on Wednesday.
"Indonesia, as a country with the largest population and economy in ASEAN region, has large developing potentials," he noted.
He pointed out that despite the internal shock in the country, Indonesia`s average economic growth is above five percent per year.
The association and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises stated that they would like to work on these potentials through cooperation.
He stressed that the cooperation will be advantageous since the association is a combination of well-known South Korean companies that have done a lot of innovations on research and development, with investment value bigger than Samsung and other SME companies in Korea.
"I hope we can expand cooperation between Indonesian and Korea SMEs, including expanding its scope, in the future," he remarked.
The business and technology matching is a follow-up of the ASEIC Global Innovation Forum, which was held a day before and was opened by the Secretary of the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Meliadi Sembiring.
On that occasion, a number of companies in the Innobiz explored cooperation with Indonesian SMEs.
Shin Sung Soon, the CEO of a Korean company that is engaged in medical and plastic waste processing, Omega Energy Enviro Co. LTD., is looking for companies or SMEs in Indonesia for cooperation.
"Until now, we have not found a prospective company in Indonesia. Although Indonesia has problems, it can manage their plastic and medical wastes," Shin revealed.
The company has had a waste-to-energy processing project in Sri Lanka five years ago.
Meanwhile, the CEO of an Indonesian company, PT Infrastructure Sulawesi Indonesia, Irzon Mondra, is exploring the possibility of working with Omega Energy in the field of medical waste processing.
"We will explore the best partnership scheme to be applied. We offer medical waste management and municipal waste management for eastern parts of Indonesia. The plan is to be located in Gresik, East Java," he noted.
Another company from Indonesia that also participated in the event is PT Palang Parkir Indonesia.
PT Palang Parkir Indonesia`s Director, Endah Triwahyuningsih, elaborated that the company is exploring cooperation with Korean partners for the safest CCTV technology for parking facilities.
The company is exploring the potential of business and technology exchanges with Korean partners who are members of the Innobiz, one of which is DKAnt.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Meliadi Sembiring, noted that the cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea has been established in harmony.
"Indonesia has great resources and potentials, while Korea has excellence in technology. These can be a very good combination," she pointed out.
