"The surplus was a result of exports of US$10.65 billion to various countries with imports of only US$2.41 billion," head of the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Atqo Mardiyanto said here on Thursday.
East Kalimantan`s export commodities included oil and gas and other commodities. Its exports of oil and gas were valued at US$1.93 billion and exports of other commodities include mineral fuels mainly coal valued at US$7.96 billion, vegetable oil mainly palm oil valued at US$342.22 million, inorganic chemicals valued at US$162.74 million, fertilizer valued at US$96.3 million, timber and timber products US$69.25 million , organic chemicals US$58.84 million and other commodities.
The main countries of export destination for oil and gas in the January-July period included Japan to which exports valued at US$889 million, South Korea to which exports valued at US$217.92 million, Taiwan US$194.89 million, China US$311.13 million and Malaysia US$28.53 million.
The main export destination for other commodities included India to which exports valued at US$1.96 billion , China to which exports were valued at US$2.14 billion , Japan US$852.34 million, South Korea US$832.92 million , the Philippines US$576 million, Taiwan US$513.79 million and Malaysia US$582.27 million.
The commodities imported by the province included mineral fuels both oil and gas products and non-oil/gas mineral fuels valued at US$1.738 billion. The imports of mineral fuels included oil and gas valued at US$1.736 billion and other US$1.49 million.
Its imports of non mineral fuel commodities included fertilizers valued at US$42.64 million , steel valued at US$49.19 million , etc.
Oil and gas products were imported from Nigeria valued at US$646.46 million, Singapore valued at US$156.59 million , South Korea valued at US$267.58 million, Malaysia US$95.64 million and Thailand US$740,000.
"Other commodities wre imported mainly from the United States valued at US$98.02 million, Japan valued at US$72.03 million, Singapore valued at US$76.82 million and Australia US$38.12 million," Atqo said.
