Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) has hinted that there are many potential cyber threats ahead of the 2019 presidential and legislative elections.

"There are plenty of them. Yes, you can see on the media. It will be too many if I have to mention them," BSSN Chairman Djoko Setiadi said here on Monday.

The agency will work together will every institution having cyber security capability to make sure that the presidential and legislative election will be safe and smooth, he said.

"BSSN will not work alone," he stated on the sidelines of an exhibition on reform and bureaucracy at the BSSN office.

The two-day exhibition (Sept 17-18), held for the second time, is aimed at promoting the achievement of the BSSN and its public services.

The expo`s theme is "BSSN Bureaucracy Reform Toward Good Governance 2025."

"We also promote seven public services that we have delivered, namely information and documentation management, electronic acquisition services, encryption museum, information system security services, cyber complains, electronic certification service, and cyber incident mitigation and consultation services," he said.

Indonesia will organize simultaneous and democratic presidential and legislative elections on April 17, 2019.

Senior politician of Gerindra Fadli Zon has urged the General Election Commission (KPU) to conduct a forensic audit of its cyber system to prevent the system from being hacked or manipulated.

He also suggested KPU to recruit cyber security experts from various Indonesian universities to protect its cyber system.

The results of the forensic audit should be made accessible to teams of both presidential candidates - incumbent Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his rival, Prabowo Subianto, he said.

The next year presidential election will be re-run of the 2014 elections, where Jokowi and Subianto was head to head.
