Pontianak, W Kalimantan 18 (ANTARA News) - The Bank Indonesia (BI) Expedition Team combed the islands of the Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Outermost category (3T) in order to perform its duties mainly related to the payment system.

"This expedition is related to BI`s duties, which is the payment system, both cash and non-cash. The task of distributing cash lies with the BI," he noted.

In terms of distribution, of course, it is important to ready cash that is sufficient to meet the needs of the community, prepare money through standard feasibility, ensure streamlined operations, and prepare money at the right time, " Head of KPW BI West Kalimantan Prijono noted while receiving the expedition team here on Wednesday.

Prijono explained that the expedition was not only about the distribution of the rupiah but also involved other activities, including raising awareness of the characteristics of money authenticity; channeling education, religious, and health assistance; and driving economic empowerment.

"The total money brought amounted to Rp5 billion of various denominations. Hopefully, this expedition would be able to provide the best service to the community," he stated.

Also present to see off the BI Expedition Team was Deputy Governor of Kalimantan Ria Norsan.

On the occasion, Norsan emphasized that money was a symbol of sovereignty and should be a matter of pride.

"The role of money is important, as an exchange tool and for payment and price calculation," he noted.

According to the former Mempawah regent, the collaboration between BI and the Navy, essentially enhances the quality of money, with the aim of meeting the requirements for money that is worth circulating in the community.

"Hopefully, this activity would boost the community`s economy, so that the government`s goal to develop the 3T region would be realized," he noted.

Meanwhile, Pontianak XII Naval Base Commander, First Admiral Gregory Agung through Aspotmar, Marine Colonel (P), Hari Mulyadi noted that this was a joint activity of the Indonesian Navy and BI to distribute proper money to the people on the 3T island.

"The goal is to make it easier for people to get decent money," Mulyadi noted.

He believes that maintaining the four pillars cannot be accomplished singlehandedly, but cooperation, in this case, with the Navy holds significance.

"The point is to dispel fears among people on the 3T island that the rupiah or the condition of the money is not feasible," he added.
