Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - The Trade Ministry has targeted the 33rd Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2018 scheduled for October 24-28 to clinch a US$1.5 billion business deal.

"Last year we successfully clinched a US$1.4 billion deal, outstripping the target of US$1.1 billion. We have set a target of US$1.5 billion deal for this year," Director General of national Export Development at the Trade Ministry Arlinda said here on Wednesday.

Themed `Creating Products for Global Opportunities?, the 33rd TEI is aimed at improving the image of Indonesian export products and shoring the Indonesian people`s pride of domestic goods and services.

This year, TEI which is the largest trade exhibition in the country will be held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Jakarta`s southwestern outskirts of Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City.

The Trade Ministry has projected the number of exhibitors at 1,100 and the number of foreign and domestic buyers at 28,000. "Up till today 2,245 buyers have confirmed a plan to attend it. Nearly 1,700 of them sent confirmation online and the rest is representatives from 60 countries," Arlinda said.

The buyers who have confirmed a plan to attend the expo are from Algeria, United Arab Emirates, China, India, Japan, Suriname and the United States, among others.

TEI 2018 will feature a series of events including Trade Tourism and Investment (TTI) Forum, Business Matching, Regional Discussion, Export Start-Up Competition, and Local and International Trade Missions.
