Badung, Bali (ANTARA News) - The I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Badung, Bali, is ready to welcome 18 thousand delegates, including state leaders, who are scheduled to attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) group from Oct 8 to 14, 2018.

"Five expansion packages prepared for the airport are ready to operate as of today," General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Rai Yanus Suprayogi, stated in Badung, Bali, on Monday.

The advancement process of the 285-hectare airport is now completed. State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) will have the Directorate General of Air Transportation from the Ministry of Transportation carry out verification processes ahead of the start of its operation. AP I will also organize a traditional ceremony in order to honor the local cultures.

There are five development packages carried out by AP I to enhance the looks and performance of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, and the total cost for the five development packages has reached Rp.2.2 trillion.

"All budgets were allocated from AP I internal cash," he added.

The five packages include the development and construction design of the west apron and the maturing of the west side beach land. On the west side of the Ngurah Rai Airport, six new aprons were built to facilitate the need for guest aircraft parking for IMF-WB meetings. One aircraft apron can be used to park 13 aircraft per day.

Secondly, there are the development and construction design of the east apron and the relocation of waste management. In the east side, there are four new aprons built to accommodate the needs that may rise from the planes of IMF-WB guests. In total, there are 10 new aprons in the Ngurah Rai International Airport built specifically to welcome the delegates of the IMF-WB meeting.

The third package includes the designing and development of VVIP Building, TNI Operations Command Headquarters and Replacement of Aircraft Maintenance Facilities. The luxury building, adorned with Balinese cultures, is divided into two sections, namely buildings for ministerial-level officials and one for Central Bank governors. The National Committee estimates that there are 189 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors attending the IMF-WB Annual Meeting.

There is also another VVIP building equipped with high-level security standards, such as installation of bulletproof glass and CCTV cameras, specifically allotted for state leaders.

Additionally, construction of check-In counters for passengers at the domestic and international arrival terminals have also been established, especially for international terminals. There will be an additional 36 check-in counters, or a total of 126 units, as explained by Suprayogi.

Lastly, there is the construction of the high-rise car parking building that includes extra 546 parking spaces.
