The president and First Lady Iriana arrived at the GWK area at 08:45 a.m. Central Indonesia Standard Time (WITA) in the company of Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjojo, and Bali Governor Wayan Koster.
The National Work Meeting on Applied Technology is an annual event, organized by the Directorate General of Village Governance (PMD) of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Village PDTT, to find creators of creations and innovations in the area in technology development.
The use of applied technology is expected to encourage local communities to be creative so that regional products have high value and competitiveness.
Based on data from the Village Ministry of PDTT, 82.77 percent of 74,956 villages across Indonesia rely on the agricultural sector in their daily lives. In addition, 1,900 villages are the potential tourism villages.
After opening the National Work Meeting on the Applied Technology, the president witnessed the village and urban innovation exhibition throughout Indonesia.
The exhibition which featured locally appropriate technology products lasted until Sunday (Oct. 21) at the GWK Regional Park Festival, Bali.
