SAR IndonesiaMataram, W Nusa Tenggara, (ANTARA News) - A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is still searching for seven passengers of MV Multi Prima I which sank in the waters of Kapoposangbali island in West Nusa Tenggara province on Saturday (Nov 24).
"By 08.30 p.m., the search operation has not found (any of them)," Chief of SAR Office in Mataram, I Nyoman Sidakarya, said here on Sunday night.
The search operation involved 17 personnel of the SAR Office, who combed the northern waters of Sumbawa Island using a rescue boat 220, he said.
Sidakarya said members of the water police directorate of the West Nusa Tenggara and local fishermen also got involved in the search operation.
During the search operation, the joint SAR team also used an Indonesian Air Force plane from the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar, he said.
"After nearly one hour in the scene, the F-8301 plane left the area for Makassar," he said.
The joint SAR team is still on the standby aboard a ship floating in the northern wasters of Sumbawa island to facilitate further search operation on Monday (Nov 26).
A huge wave hit the motor vessel which carried construction materials while on its way from Surabaya, East Java, to Waingapu, East Nusa Tenggara.
Fourteen passengers survived in the accident after MV Cahaya Abadi 201 helped them.
