Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale rocked Sumbawa Island in West Nusa Tenggara Province on Friday evening, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The results of the analysis conducted by the agency showed the epicenter of the earthquake, which struck at 06.43 p.m. local time, was located at 8.27 degrees southern latitude and 116.73 degrees eastern longitude.

"It was exactly 27 kilometers northwest of Panjang Island, Sumbawa District, at a depth of 10 kilometers," Head of the Mataram Geophysics Station Agus Riyanto said.

The earthquake was also felt by people living in Mataram City, Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara.

Residents of Mataram City who went shopping to Lombok Epicentrum Mal panicked and hurriedly left the four-storey building.

There was no immediate report of casualties or material damage.
