The eight were part of the 33 drug trafficking suspects arrested in 12 drug cases disclosed last year, Chief of the BNN Office Brigadier General Tagam Sinaga stated during a morning coffee session at his office here on Friday.
He said 20 of the suspects were shot on their feet for resisting arrest.
In 2017, the BNN Office had disclosed 13 drug cases and arrested 17 suspects, he noted.
"Four of the 12 suspects we arrested in 2017 belonged to a syndicate controlled from the Rajabasa correctional facility. The syndicate involved the correctional facility chief, warden, and inmates," he remarked.
"Apart from arresting the suspects, the BNN Office in Lampung also seized 7,879.69 grams of crystal meth and 353 ecstasy pills as evidence," he noted.
Meanwhile, in 2018, the BNN Office had seized 22.1 kilograms of crystal meth and 5,373 ecstasy pills.
