Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Former first lady Ani Yudhoyono is under treatment for blood cancer at the National University Hospital in Singapore since Saturday (Feb 2).

"With a sense of concern, I inform my friends in the country that Mrs Ani is suffering from blood cancer," former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono revealed in a press conference video in Singapore.

The video was sent to Antara on Wednesday by Imelda Sari, chief of the public communication division of the Democratic Party of which Yudhoyono is chairman.

He said Ani Yudhoyono has received medical treatment in Singapore since Feb 2 on the recommendation of the Indonesian presidential medical team. Hence, she had to be offered intensive treatment at the hospital.

"On behalf of Mrs Ani and the extended family of SBY, I wish my friends to pray to Allah SWT, God Almighty, for the recovery of my beloved wife, Mrs. Ani or Ani Kristiani Herawati, daughter of Sarwo Edhie Wibowo, so she will be able to carry out her daily activities again in the country," he emphasized.

On the occasion, he also expressed gratitude to President Joko Widodo and the government, particularly the presidential medical team, for the attention and assistance given for the treatment of Ani Yudhoyono.
