"The 40th session of the UNHRC will bring together ministerial-level officials, heads of state, and heads of government," he stated here on Thursday.
The 40th session of the UNHRC will be held from February 25 to March 22, 2019, to discuss several agendas of the meeting agreed upon earlier.
"The presence of the Indonesian foreign minister at the session of the UNHRC reflects Indonesia`s commitment to promote human rights values and, of course, is in accordance with Indonesia`s national interests," Human Rights Director of the Foreign Ministry Achsanul Habib noted.
He remarked that Indonesia is one of the countries that serve as a yardstick in the Asia-Pacific region to promote human rights values.
"In the session of the UNHRC, the foreign minister will come up with ideas and stances of Indonesia, as well as its domestic and regional achievements in promoting human rights," he explained.
Among the issues that the minister will bring up at the session of the UNHRC will be those concerning Palestine and Myanmar, he revealed.
The other issues that will become the center of the Indonesian government`s attention at the meeting are civil rights, economic rights, women`s empowerment, child rights, and rights of people with disabilities
UNHRC is a UN body whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world.
