Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) pointed to land conflicts that continued to occur between the local residents and concessionary companies in several regions.

"Yesterday, the last time I went to Bengkulu, I met a resident whose kampong was inside an area whose concessionary right was given to a company, so a conflict emerges," President Jokowi noted here, Tuesday.

Similar conflicts were also found on Java Island, the president said in his opening remarks during a limited meeting on the Policy on Land Use inside Forest Area.

Conflicts often occur in kampongs located inside forestry companies areas.

To address the problem, the president has instructed relevant ministries to conduct verification, inventory, and land arrangement in the forest area.

In the last two years, the government has handed over social forestry land, measuring 2.6 million hectares, out of a total of 12.7 million hectares to be prepared.
