Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Embassy of Palestine in Indonesia held the first-ever appreciation night for Palestinian culture at the Graha Bakti Budaya Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Feb 27, Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m. local time.

The event was held in honor of the 54th Anniversary of the Palestinian Revolution that occurred on January 1, 1965.

Ambassador of the State of Palestine Dr. Zuhair Alshun, the night`s host, explained that this event was entirely focused on Palestinian culture and had nothing to do with politics and Palestine issues.

"This evening marks the very first time for Jakarta to join us to commemorate a very important date," he affirmed.

Dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors Abdallah Hasan Saleh supported the speech of his colleague Dr. Zuhair Alshun by stating that it does not always have to be about politics, affirming that the Palestinian Cultural night is an act of soft diplomacy, through culture, so that Palestine`s voices could be heard louder.

Indonesia has offered endless support to Palestine and will continue to do so until the said country achieves its independence, so the event was held to express the gratitude of Palestinians to Indonesians.

The night`s guest star, Palestinian pop singer Numan Al Jalmawi delivered a special performance for which he had flown all the way to tell Palestine`s story through songs. His performance was also supported by the Al-Nasr Group with national Dabka, the Palestinians` national dance.

The songs performed by the Palestinian pop singer told the story of how Palestine spreads joy through music.

Apart from the Palestinian singer and dance group as the entertainment of the night, an Indonesian dance group also performed the well-known Saman Dance.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir was also present in the audience along with several other ambassadors in Indonesia to demonstrate support for Palestine and its Revolution Day.
