The epicenter of the quake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale, was located at 7.63 degrees northern latitude and 95.09 degrees eastern longitude, some 194 kilometers (km) northwest of Sabang, and at a depth of 10 km below sea level, the Mata I'e geophysics station, reported here, Monday.
Trinanda Mulia, 26, a local resident, claimed to have not felt the tremor, and conditions thereafter on the beach of Sabang were also normal.
Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago, is no stranger to earthquakes, as it is part of the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin.
