AntaraKupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NT (ANTARA) - Incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi) landed at the El Tari Airport, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on Monday, at 11:43 a.m. local time, to conduct an open campaign for the upcoming presidential election.
The open campaign, to be organized at the Sitarda Lasiana Square, is estimated to draw several thousand people.
Over 192 million Indonesians will cast their ballots in the 2019 legislative and presidential elections to be organized simultaneously throughout the nation on Apr 17.
The 2019 race is set to be a reprise of the testy 2014 presidential election that brought to light the nation’s divide, as Jokowi contested against retired general Prabowo Subianto. Jokowi has picked prominent cleric Ma'ruf Amin as his running mate, while Subianto has chosen as his running mate Sandiaga Uno, a successful and young businessman.
