Indonesian Ambassador delivers message of peace for election in Jordan

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Andy Rachmianto delivered a message of peace for the forthcoming elections to diaspora members in Jordan looking to exercise their right to vote.

“As a five-year democratic fiesta to decide new national leaders and members of the Indonesian parliament, the 2019 election is expected to be held in a peaceful manner,” Rachmianto said in a statement here on Friday.

The ambassador further called on the voting organizers to fulfill their duties to the best of their abilities in accordance with the elections’ regulations.

“All election organizers must be responsible enough to conduct their duties and show full commitment to adhering to the oath taken during their inauguration,” he emphasized.

The voting organizers and election witnesses have also expressed their commitment to implementing a peaceful election in Jordan, called the Land of the Prophets.

Before Indonesia's overseas election in Jordan, Apr 12, the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, along with the overseas election committee and voting organizers group, organized an Asr prayer at the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, Thursday.

This prayer service was held to call on Allah's blessings and protection for the smooth, fair, and honest implementation of elections in Indonesia and Jordan.

Head of the overseas election committee in Jordan Miftah Nafid Firdaus stated that the application of post mail and mobile dropbox, as the duo stages of the election, had gone smoothly. Two polling stations had been readied at the Ambassador’s residence to enable direct voting for over a thousand citizens on the permanent voters list.

In line with Indonesia's General Election Committee's target, half of those on the permanent voters list, including Indonesian migrant workers and students, are expected to exercise their franchise in the Jordan elections.
