Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) expects to announce the President and Vice President for the 2019-2024 period no later than May 28, 2019. "May 22, 2019, will be the stage of determining the results of the vote recapitulation, and in the next three days, on May 25, 2019, we will see whether there is a lawsuit or not," said Chairman of the KPU RI Arief Budiman in Jakarta on Friday.

If there is no lawsuit in the period of May 25-27, 2019, then the party will announce the elected president and vice presidential candidate by May 28, 2019.

Arief said the elected president could be announced earlier on May 26 or 27, 2019, if the situation is truly conducive and comes without any lawsuit from the opponent.

However, Arief claimed that he was ready for all the risks that would arise. KPU RI is currently conducting an auction process to involve lawyers in dealing with potential claims that could arise.

Arief said the lawsuit, after the holding of the results of the vote recapitulation in the Indonesian KPU, would be handled in the Constitutional Court (MK) through a dispute trial process. For this reason, he appealed to all relevant parties from each team to resolve the dispute during the recapitulation process in the KPU RI building.

He noted that as many as 28 out of a total of 35 provinces had completed the vote recapitulation process for the 2019 Election.

Provinces that have not completed the recapitulation include North Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, Maluku, Papua, West Papua and South Sulawesi.
