"I am concerned about this incident and am also saddened to see the number of victims, who also suffered injuries," Kalla told reporters at the Indonesian Vice President's Office, Jakarta, Wednesday.
The vice president expressed regret over the demonstration that initially took off peacefully but later turned violent till the point that it claimed several lives on Tuesday night (May 21) until Wednesday morning.
"We wholeheartedly welcomed the peaceful demonstration, like last night. However, the midnight incident later took place," he remarked.
Until Wednesday morning, six people lost their lives, while 200 others suffered injuries during the 22 May Action held to reject the results of the 2019 Presidential Election.
