Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia was elected chairman of the 35th meeting of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) Security Committee (SC) held in Kuala Lumpur from June 12 to 14, 2019.

“PT Garuda Indonesia Vice President for Corporate Security Santoso led the Garuda Indonesia delegation while in Kuala Lumpur from June 12 to 15, 2019,” Garuda Indonesia General Manager for Malaysia Fredrik Kasiepo said here on Sunday.

The meeting coincided with the 23rd meeting of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) Cargo Security Working Group (CSWG)-Information Exchange and Aviation Cyber Security Resilience Workshop.

On the sidelines of the meetings, chief of the Garuda Indonesia delegation paid a visit to the check-in counter and operational activities at Kuala Lumpur Internasional Airport (KLIA).

Santosa said the event directly gave updated information about aviation security especially in the Asia-Pacific region and improved airline companies' knowledge of effective security yardstick which can be applied to their operations.

"It is special pride not only for Garuda Indonesia but also for the Indonesian nation that this year Garuda Indonesia enjoyed the trust to lead the AAPA Security Committee (SC) Meeting," he said.

The meeting brought together all airlines members, and IATA & US Transport Security Administration (TSA) representative.
