"We, along with (Lampung) Governor Arinal will renovate Rajabasa Bus Terminal to make it equal with an airport (in term of services)," Sumadi said in his working visit to the station on Sunday.
The minister, in the company of Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi, arrived at the Public Works and Public Housing Office in Rajabasa at 8.30 a.m. local time aboard a Bell 329 helicopter.
Sumadi and his entourage took off from Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport in Jakarta at around 6.45 a.m. local time.
According to the minister, Lampung is a strategic province that connect Java and Sumatra Islands. Rajabasa Terminal is one of bus terminals in the country that were transferred to the central government and will be upgraded.
"Bus operators will also be gathered in one location. So, there will be no ugly bus. There will only be good buses which are comfortable and safe for the public," he said.
The terminal will also provide online services.
"Rajabasa Terminal is very strategic. We will also connect the terminal with toll roads, to improve the connectivity of Java-Lampung, as well as to other provinces," he said.
The government has alloted Rp40 billion for the renovation project.
"Renovation of the terminal will take Rp40 billion of fund and is targeted to be completed in November 2020. Now we are preparing the plan," Sumadi said, adding that the Lampung governor has included his idea to establish an integrated service center in the bus station.
The minister has also planned to visit Tanjungkarang train station and hold a meeting with the governor at Mahan Agung Guest House.
