"The president, as I saw, was extremely liked by the leaders present there. Their talks, also his light-hearted banter with Trump, were quite obvious. The First Lady appeared quite relaxed with the other countries' (First Ladies). It was reflected during the bilateral meetings," Pandjaitan informed the press here on Tuesday.
Jokowi received 17 invitations for bilateral meetings. However, since he had to wait for the announcement of the Constitutional Court's ruling prior to his departure to Osaka, the bilateral meetings were cut short to six, the minister explained.
Pandjaitan remarked that he also attended bilateral meetings with the leaders of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, and the World Bank. In the meantime, President Jokowi highlighted the issue of educational access and women's empowerment during the second session of the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit held in Osaka, Japan, Saturday.
"We all realize that educational access and women's empowerment are important elements to achieve the target of Sustainable Development Goals, and that requires cooperation among us," he stated while addressing the leaders of the G20 member states.
During the session themed "Addressing Inequalities and Realizing an Inclusive and Sustainable World," Jokowi highlighted the significance of altering the current educational system that he believed still follows the old educational pattern.
In fact, the current digital era has witnessed a change in the mental and association patterns among children in the 21st century, he pointed out.
The children currently live in the era of YouTube Videos, with each averaging 12 minutes, and in the era of Instagram or Twitter videos of average duration of five minutes or even shorter at one minute, he stated.
"In the past, children associated with one another, for instance, by cycling together. However, currently, our children associate with one another by playing video games and 'Massive Multi-Player Online Game,' such as Fortnite and Minecraft," he noted as quoted by Presidential Secretariat's Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media, Bey Machmudin.
