The President was present at the Plenary Meeting Room of the Nusantara Building at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta on Friday morning, wearing golden brown Sasak clothes.
The traditional clothes are completed with a "sapuk" headdress and a "keris" dagger as its accessories.
Meanwhile, First Lady Iriana Widodo was wearing a white "baju kurung", an ethnic dress from Sumatra Island, decorated with a brown batik sling.
The session was started by singing the national anthem "Indonesia Raya" and a moment of silence.
Then, Chairman of the DPD RI Oesman Sapta Odang opened the event before the president delivered his state annual speech as the country would celebrate its 74th independence Anniversary on August 17, 2019.
Previously, during the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) annual session, President Jokowi said that Indonesia is home of a diverse group of people from different backgrounds of religion, race, ethnicity, who all live in harmony.
He conveyed that all the children of the nation could work, move, and strive to make the dreams and ideals of building the nation come true.
"Difference is not an obstacle for us to unite. In unity, we find tremendous energy, to mobilize all energy, thoughts, and hard work for the advancement of Indonesia. In that unity, we find solidarity, caring, and the spirit of sharing among the nation's children," Jokowi stated.
