Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in his annual speech at the legislative complex, Friday morning, was all praises for the House of Representatives (DPR) leadership at the 2nd World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development.

“DPR, as the parliamentary body in the country, has strengthened the diplomacy of our country at the world forum. In September 2018, for the second round, the House was elected to lead the World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development,” President Jokowi, dressed in a blue suit, stated.

In his annual speech, President Jokowi also highlighted the House’s role in hosting a meeting of the world’s five middle powers: Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia.

“In its diplomacy mission, the House has actively participated in regional, global, multilateral, and bilateral forums,” Jokowi stated.

Apart from putting the spotlight on DPR’s role, President Jokowi also commended the House’s cooperation in reviewing and approving 34 ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary in 2019.

“The house has launched fit and proper tests for state officials, including 34 ambassadors of extraordinary and plenipotentiary in 2019,” Jokowi reaffirmed.

On Aug 16, every year, the president will deliver the annual state address, and a speech on the state budget at the legislative complex.
