Challenges for the E-10 members are varied and systematic. However, that should not hamper the E-10 in building a common vision
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Government of Indonesia highlighted the importance of strengthening the roles of the 10 elected members (E-10) of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in improving the working method of the Council. "Challenges for the E-10 members are varied and systematic. However, that should not hamper the E-10 in building a common vision," Director General of Multilateral Cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Febrian A. Ruddyard, said here Friday.

The statement was delivered at the opening of the public discussion and book launch of "Indonesian Presidency of the UN Security Council May 2019".

Ruddyard argued that Indonesia's leadership during its presidency as an elected member of UNSC was a concrete contribution to the improvement in the working method of the UN Security Council.

"Indonesia's presidency at the UN Security Council is a manifestation of its leadership role in the international arena," he remarked.

Indonesia's presidency in May took the theme of "Investing in Peace", in which it highlighted its efforts to maintain international peace and security.
