I, along with the employees, would like to express our gratitude for the generous support and participation given to us. We can finally establish this factory equipped with its facilities, in which the brand and principal are very Indonesian
Boyolali (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated a factory of PT Solo Manufaktur Kreasi (PT Esemka), a local Indonesian automotive company that will be manufacturing vehicles, in Boyolali, Central Java, Friday. The President, accompanied by President Director of PT Esemka Eddy Wirajaya and several ministers, had earlier inspected the manufacturing process of "Esemka Bima 1.3", a light-duty truck.

"I, along with the employees, would like to express our gratitude for the generous support and participation given to us. We can finally establish this factory equipped with its facilities, in which the brand and principal are very Indonesian," Wirajaya remarked.

Despite public concerns for an 'Esemka' product as the 'national car', Wirajaya clarified that the company was a 100 percent private company. "We are not producing the 'national car' as people are commonly thinking. The 'Esemka' is likely to be 'locally-manufactured in Indonesia,'" he stated.

As "Esemka" was named following the abbreviation of vocational school (SMK: Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan), PT Esemka has pinned its hopes on the company becoming a part of the development of Indonesia's automotive industry through its human resources, that are mostly SMK's graduates.
